Basilisk Lizard!

Basilisk Lizards are native to Central and South America. These Lizards can grow up to about two feet in length. They are omnivores, meaning they eat both plants and small animals in order to survive. Though these lizards generally live in trees in rainforest climate, they can drop from the trees into the water and run across it when they feel threatened.

Jellyfish are transparent creatures that live IN water, but they do not have legs so they can’t walk across it.

Koala bears live in trees. They can swim, but water is not their natural habitat.

What is my child learning?

Students learn about various aspects of life science as they advance through elementary school. In kindergarten, children start to learn the difference between living and non-living things as well as the distinguishing factors between plants and animals, which will help them to understand adaptations in later grades. In this activity, students explore animal habitats as well as the unique adaptations of the basilisk lizard that allow it to escape its prey.
