Yoga takes from the postures and movements of any animals to help release stress and stretch the body.

The Sphinx pose looks like this:

But there is no gecko pose! Instead there is a general lizard pose which looks like this: 

What is my child learning?

Yoga, mindfulness and meditation are important emotional regulation strategies for success in school. Yoga helps children develop motor planning skills and strength control. It also helps with focus. Both meditation and mindfulness promote calm and emotional regulation. With a calm and clear head children are better able to focus in school and perform well on their assessments. With well regulated emotions children are also better able to socialize and maintain friendships.
